Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Olander Earthworks Sand Tray

I offer use of a sand tray to ease anxiety and help focus thoughts during sessions

Through talking in a confidential setting, we’ll explore your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes surrounding what you bring into our therapy session and examine how they influence your behaviors and emotions. Through examining your beliefs and how they influence behaviors, we can set goals that will help you to make adjustments to both your thoughts and actions and find new ways of viewing and coping with any issues moving forward.

Our Thoughts Hold Power

Our thoughts are powerful—holding the power to influence our behaviors and capable of triggering feelings of anxiety and depression.

Depression, anxiety, and behaviors that promote the longevity of these feelings are oftentimes the product of negative thought patterns. Identifying and challenging negative thoughts and any negative thought patterns is the first step in activating positive change and healing.

Negative thoughts are usually born during our childhood. When we experience feelings of failure, or a lack of attention, we may begin to feel inadequate and develop low self-esteem. Over time, there may be experiences or situations that reinforce some of these negative thoughts—giving them validation and power until they become automatic. Once we’re adults, it can be difficult to combat negative thought patterns that have become automatic. Through challenging these patterns, and retraining our minds, we’re able to take control over our thoughts and begin forming more positive belief systems that facilitate growth, healing, and positive change.

CBT is a wonderful tool for treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.
