Insight-Oriented Psychodynamic Therapy in Everett, WA
Old patterns and habits have a way of taking our power and freedom to see the choices we have in every situation. By talking and discovering the ways our internal world of subconscious desires, beliefs, and conflicts affect the current situations that prompted therapy, powerful insight into how you function is possible, allowing for change and healing to occur. Once your subconscious beliefs, desires, and conflicts have been identified, there is room for the freedom of owning your choices and being able to see your power of choice in every situation.
This form of therapy is based upon the belief that anything going on within us that is causing a problem or issue is deeply rooted in the subconscious—something that is present deep down inside of us that we are currently unaware of. Through discovering the subconscious and implementing some cognitive-behavioral techniques (surrounding social interactions, behavioral modification, etc.), you are able to create the realities you desire, as well as cope with the here and now as you heal. Using CBT intermixed with insight-oriented therapy gives us insight through the exploration of current and past experiences brought into session. This is done by discussing personal and family histories, as well as any major life events and factors that are impacting the present.
Through knowing ourselves better, we’re also able to function better. This is the goal of insight oriented psychodynamic therapy. Improving your functioning encompasses everything from your social involvement and productivity at work to your ability to cope with emotions and self-manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, or mood swings. By working together to clarify your intentions and motivations and understanding how you function, there is knowledge, and ultimately the freedom and power to change any old habits or tendencies that have been stumbling blocks in your life.
